Voice Lessons, Consulting and Master Classes

Consulting

In addition to instruction in vocal technique, Heidi Skok now offers consulting services to aid young singers in choosing a school, which young artist program(s) to apply for, etc. As well, she will listen to recordings and provide helpful technical comments and advice.

Heidi Skok is a sought-after voice teacher for the great singers of tomorrow. Heidi is now serving on the part-time voice faculty at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.

Technique & Transitions

Heidi Skok is a gifted "diagnostician" and a solid and knowledgable technician for all voice types.  She has successfully helped many singers make fach transitions.

In 2005, Skok herself transitioned from soprano to mezzo-soprano. With her tremendous experience as a performing artist and many years as a teacher (since 1994), she specializes in solving vocal difficulties and has deep insight into how a voice should function and sound.

She has a special love for big voices, and the organization which she founded in 2009—RESONANZ—will now become a foundation to primarily support financially these larger-voiced singers.  Please keep an eye on the RESONANZ website at www.resonanz-rasif.org for more information.

Teaching Experience

Skok taught at the New School University on the Voice Faculty of the Actors Studio MFA Program, at the University of Kentucky and at Bennington College, in Vermont.  In 2007, she was a member of the Voice Faculty at the Intermezzo Foundation Opera Festival in the Tampa, Florida area.

Skok is rapidly earning a reputation for building important operatic voices. Skok's students sing at such opera houses as the Metropolitan Opera, English National Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Leipzig Oper, New York City Opera, Washington National Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival, and Santa Fe Opera.

Skok Students

Many of Heidi Skok's voice students have won prizes in competitions including the Jenson Competition, The Center for Contemporary Opera competition, The Sullivan Foundation and the Neue Stimmen competition as well as the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.

In 2004, mezzo-soprano Claudia Huckle, was a Metropolitan Opera Grand Finals winner. Now in the midst of an increasingly important and very busy opera career, Huckle was recently featured in The Duchess of Malfi at the English National Opera for which she received international acclaim.

In 2011, Philip Horst won the First Prize at the Liederkranz Wagner Division and Second Prize in the Gerda Lissner Foundation Competition, Wagner Division.

Broadway great, Jen Percival, is back from her World Tour with Disney.  She now will appear in a lead role in Hair in Boston, MA.

Anthony Gargiula, the young pop star, has his first album out on iTunes.

Master Classes

Heidi Skok is equally effective in a class situation. She has been featured at many universities and opera companies around the country as a master teacher. Her classes produce dramatic results in singers and excite audiences as well.

"Your master class, that we were privileged  to  attend  at Opera NJ today, was one of the best we have ever seen. We are opera fanatics and have been for at least 70 years.  Thank you." (Rena and Al Klein)

"Your class [at] Princeton was spectacular. The improvements that you imparted to each of the singers was for me, very dramatic." (An avid opera fan)
